Danish families about to test their food with IT

Under the scanner with the meat or the chocolate bar – and you will know everything about how the pig was thriving before it became a pork chop. And where the cocoa beans were harvested before they were made into the sweet cocoa.
20 Danish families will be the first ones to test the future bar codes on food and so be on the point of preparing the way for the intelligent refrigerator, writes the news agency Ritzau.
Twice a week they will receive food from five food companies. This will be the same food that can be bought in any super market, but the present bar codes have been provided with a micro chip.
A small gadget containing extensive knowledge about the food’s origin, shelf life, recipes and which helps the consumers in planning more purchases.
