Oresund Film Commission paves the way to more film
26-06-2006
Economy:
Three years’ work of attracting international film productions to the Øresund Region has turned out successfully.
The Øresund Region is well on its way to be the Nordic centre for film production. This is the result of a new evaluation of the Oresund Film Commission (OFC) carried out by Cloudberry Communications on behalf of the film commission.
OFC was started as a three years-project across the borders and has been partly financed by the EU programme Interreg IIIA. Based on the fact that the Interreg-financing of the project has now ceased, the report was prepared to partly evaluate the film commission’s work partly to be the foundation of a new strategy for OFC’s future work.
The report states that OFC has increased the region’s international visibility and created new business opportunities in the region. The goals which initially were set up have been reached. For example, three feature films and 13 commercial films were attracted to the region. Moreover, 12 small productions were localised.
The before-mentioned figures are largely the result of the work having been directed towards private meetings with interested parties on the prioritised markets in Europe, the USA, Russia and to some extent Asia.
The film commission has attached great importance to the marketing of the Øresund Region as an attractive place to produce international film. Among other things the commission has reached six times as many decision makers in the film industry as planned. However, the report states that it is difficult to attract international feature films to the region unless financial conditions will be available on the regional plan.
