Getting around in Copenhagen couldn’t be easier!
Public transportation
An extensive public transportation system consisting of trains,
busses, a metro, and “water busses” ensures easy transportation
around the city. The same ticket system is used for the entire
public transportation. You can either choose from:
- One-hour tickets
- One-day tickets
- Reduced price tickets valid for one month and an unlimited
amount of trips
- Reduced price tickets valid for 10 trips
Be aware that the Copenhagen is divided into a number of zones
that determines the price of the ticket.
Taxi
Taxis are available for immediate hailing as well as for booking
in advance. There is a start charge, which ranges from approx. EUR
3-5 depending on the hour; nights are the most expensive. Fairs are
charged on the basis of distance (except for waiting time).
Please be aware that taxi fares are much more expensive than in
North America and many parts of Europe.

Bike
Bikes are probably the favourite means of transportation among
the Copenhageners, and is reflected in the extensive bike lane
system in the city. Almost everyone owns a bike and it is quite
normal to arrive at work by bike. If you want to join in on this
phenomenon you can either rent a bike or take advantage of one of
the “city bikes” that are found around the inner city in the spring
and summer months – free of charge.
Foot
Finally, if the weather allows it the best way to explore the
city is actually by foot! You can cross through central
Copenhagen in one hour by foot.
