Several companies have with success changed - parts of - their
organisation to a Nordic setup. Examples include:
3
The telecom company 3 has established a Nordic
call centre in Copenhagen with 200 employees. Copenhagen was chosen
over Stockholm due partly to a well-developed infrastructure and
the advantageous location in the Øresund Region making it possible
to recruit Danes, Swedes, and Norwegians.
Dell
Dell has consolidated its Nordic support
functions by expanding the Copenhagen based subsidiary with a
contact centre employing an additional 50 employees. Alternatives
to Copenhagen were London, Amsterdam, Dublin, Bratislava,
Stockholm, and Malmö.
ABB
ABB has established a regional development
centre for the Nordic and Baltic countries in Copenhagen. The
development centre will focus on advanced automation for the
pharmaceutical industry. ABB’s global development centre for
advanced software solutions for the pharmaceutical industry is also
located in Copenhagen.
Eli Lilly
Eli Lilly chose Copenhagen for their
Nordic shared service centre. The centre gathers administrative
functions from four different countries. The philosophy behind the
decision was to increase service levels, efficiency and
transparency. It was natural to choose Denmark because of the high
possibility of finding qualified staff.
RS Components
The company’s Scandinavian head office in Copenhagen is responsible
for logistics, finance, IT and marketing for the entire Nordic
region and employs 62 people. Copenhagen was the natural centre for
RS Components’ activities in Scandinavia where more than 600
packages are daily despatched to the other Scandinavian countries.
In a logistical point of view everything functions optimally from
Copenhagen. In addition, despatch costs in Denmark are cheaper than
in Sweden and Norway. And finally, the labour market in Denmark is
far more flexible than elsewhere.
British Airways
British Airways decided to group its Scandinavian sales and
marketing activities in a single head office in Copenhagen. The
desire to achieve a more efficient and effective organisation made
British Airways close their Norwegian and Swedish offices and
opening a new joint head office in Copenhagen. Based on several
factors, Copenhagen came out as the most favourable location. Such
as lower rent levels, the fast connection to Sweden with the
Øresund bridge and Denmark’s high number of flight connection where
among the decisive factors.
