The choice fell on Copenhagen when BASF Coatings Refinish Norden AB decided to gather their total order functions in the Nordic countries together into one call centre.

BASF Coatings was mainly a Swedish company, a section of the German chemical group BASF and one of the leading distributors of car paint in the Nordic countries.

Until recently, BASF Coatings had been located in Gothenburg with sub-branches in Stockholm, Malmö, Helsinki, Tammerfors, Oslo, Aarhus and Copenhagen.

Now, the headquarters, as well as the newly established call centre which serves customers all over the Nordic countries, are located in Valby in Copenhagen.

– It was first and foremost Copenhagen’s location at the heart of the Øresund Region, the recruitment possibilities and the flexible labour market that persuaded us, says Michael Kock, general manager for the Nordic branch of BASF Coatings. He approached Copenhagen Capacity in order to ensure that the decision was well founded.

– Apart from providing the relevant facts Copenhagen Capacity was also a great help in organising our new call centre. It is rare to receive this kind of assistance for free, says Michael Kock in referring to the know-how regarding the establishment of call centres, which Copenhagen Capacity possesses.

The staff of the call centre consists of Swedish, Finnish and Norwegian employees as well as Danish employees.

– I think we would have had trouble finding such qualified persons with the required Nordic language skills, if we  had chosen another location than Copenhagen for our Nordic headquarters, says Michael Kock.

The company’s annual turnover is approx. 20mill. Euro. It employs 70 people in the Nordic countries, of whom 30 work in Copenhagen.
