The Swedish group Ericsson is to take over a seven-year agreement about the operation and development of TDC’s mobile network.
According to the news agency Ritzau the Swedish telecom group Ericsson confirms that they are to enter into a strategic partnership with the largest Danish tele company TDC. The parties have entered into a seven-year agreement so that during this period Ericsson will handle operation, development and modernisation of TDS’ network.
As a start Ericsson will replace equipment on more than 1000 base stations and ensure that TDS’ network will be based on equipment from a single supplier in the future. As a part of the agreement approximately 220 TDC staff will be transferred to Ericsson.
The contract will be effective in March 2008.
TDC group CEO Jens Alder welcomes the agreement.
“With Ericsson as our strategic partner we are in a very good position to expand our leading market position. This contract which is the first of its type for TDC will enable us to focus on our core business and deliver world-class services to our customers," says Jens Alder.
