Danes behind new Nordic Game Giant
25-04-2008
IT and high tech industries:
The greatest distributor of computer games in Denmark aims at Sweden and purchases a Swedish dealer.
Five years ago three boys began to sell computer and consol games from a garage. Since then they have yearly doubled their turnover and are now the happy owners of the largest on-line game shop in Denmark. Those boys are now becoming Nordic.
Coolshop.dk as the store is called, signed an agreement yesterday, which involves that the store owns 75 per cent of the stocks in one of Sweden’s largest game shops, Spelbutiken, writes epn.dk.
In Sweden, the computer and consol game market is a larger industry than the film and music industry combined.
Receiving Spelbutiken’s 90,000 customers Coolshop now has a database exceeding 250,000 assigned customers. Thus, Denmark has positioned itself as a potentially large provider of games and film.
»With a quarter of a million customers it will be very easy for us to benefit from economies of scale and increased purchasing power. We maintain the Swedish office and hope that the Swedish people will welcome our concept just as much as our Danish customers« says a happy Jacob Risgaard, Managing CEO of the quickly growing game empire Coolshop.dk
