An illuminating move
27-03-2008
Regional setup:
Copenhagen’s wonderful old buildings will now have the chance of being seen in an even better light, as a leading German architect company within lighting design is to locate in the city.
Kardorff Ingenieure, which specialises in interior and exterior floodlighting of buildings, has decided to open an office in Denmark.
“For the last decade we have been collaborating with Danish architects who are very competent and experienced in working with international projects. Moreover, we see that only very few are experienced within floodlighting architecture in Denmark, so the Danish market promises to be a good supplement to our business,” says Kardorff Ingenieure’s general manager Gabriele von Kardorff.
Kardorff Ingenieure, which also has a branch in Dubai, is headquartered in Berlin where approximately 20 architects, engineers and lighting designers work on a wide variety of projects. The company has assisted in floodlighting Berlin’s famous Brandenburg Gate, and in Denmark it has worked on the floodlighting for the new Radio Denmark head office in the Copenhagen suburb of Ørestad.
Copenhagen Capacity has assisted Kardorff Ingenieure in securing the services of a lawyer and an auditor, as well as with establishing the Danish subsidiary company and locating premises on Vesterbrogade, a main road artery into Copenhagen city centre.
“Lighting architecture is a very special niche. Therefore it is very interesting to have Kardorff Ingenieure in Copenhagen. The company can contribute positively to Danish architectural projects and help highlight the city’s international characteristics,” says Copenhagen Capacity’s Business Development Manager Kim Lundberg. He met with Kardorff Ingenieure at the Expo-Real trade fair in Munich last autumn. Kardorff Ingenieure has appointed two persons in Copenhagen and intends to expand as they take on more projects.
