Successful protection of knowledge
08-02-2008
Human resources and know how:
Danish companies are good at protecting their knowledge in the form of patents, trademarks etc. and those who do seem to do best. However, there is also room for improvements, show figures from a new publication.
The new figures published recently show how active Danish companies are when it comes to innovation and exploitation of knowledge. Moreover, the publication shows what they obtain from doing so, writes epn.dk
“The publication emphasises that the companies, making use of the intellectual rights are clearly dominating in business life. It finally confirms the indications we have seen so far – and at the same time it indicates that it pays to have paper on your rights,” says General Manager Jesper Kongstad from the Danish Patent and Trademark Office.
Denmark is very active when it comes to the protection of rights. However, there is still room for improvements and the exploitation of intellectual rights may be intensified at an advantage. Consequently, the government has initiated a special effort to promote the innovation activity in the form of a joint innovation strategy for small and medium-sized companies.
The publication was worked out in collaboration with the Danish Patent and Trademark Office and Statistics Denmark and is available on www.dst.dk.
