New wind turbines are crowding in Øresund. Vattenfall writes in its press release that all 48 marine wind turbines have been completed in Lillgrund Marine Wind Farm south of the Øresund Bridge. It is the third-largest marine wind farm in the world.
Lillgrund Marine Wind Farm is part of Vattenfall’s strategy on renewable energy. In the course of 10 years it is the company’s ambition to supply approximately 1.6 million homes with electricity from wind power corresponding to 8 TWh. In comparison Lillgrund will produce approximately 0.33 TWh annually.
Each of the 48 wind turbines at Lillgrund is 120 metre tall and has a rotor diameter of 90 metres.
Lillgrund is Sweden’s first marine wind farm and the second wind farm in Øresund. The first is Middelgrunden across from Copenhagen, consisting of 20 wind turbines.
