The Danes prefer contents in their jobs
16-11-2007
Human resources and know how:
A good job is to provide something else and much more than money. Especially women look for contents rather than money in their work shows a new analysis. It is because the Danish identity is much bound up with the job.
This is professor Per Langå Jensen’s opinion as stated in the weekly newsletter Agenda which is published by Danish Employers' Confederation. Per Langå Jensen comes from the Institute for Production and Management at the Technical University of Denmark.
“The Danes want a job with meaning. Both for themselves and for society. We also want a job that will develop us professionally and personally. Moreover, the requirements are that the good job shall be interesting, varied, have good colleagues and a respectful atmosphere between management and colleagues," says the professor to the weekly newsletter.
45,000 persons worldwide have been asked about their opinion of their jobs. Included were 1,500 Danes and together with Norwegians and Swiss people we are less absorbed in money and salary.
Specifically they were asked their opinion of the following:
“The job is just where you earn your money - nothing else"
65 per cent of the Danes either “do not agree” at all or “disagree” with this statement.
In poor countries such as Russia, Bulgaria and other places in Eastern Europe only 20 per cent disagree with this statement.
