13-11-2007
Property and construction:
Copenhagen will have a new landmark Copenhagen Towers. An approximately 80 m tall office tower and a similar hotel tower are to be constructed in Ørestad, Copenhagen’s new downtown area between the city and the airport.
It is Sjælsø Gruppen which is initiating the project Copenhagen Towers in Ørestad with an entire project value of EUR 250 million. As part of the project the capital will have a new 4-star Crowne Plaza hotel, writes the company in its press release.
It will be one of Denmark’s largest Danish business construction projects to be built in Ørestad where Sjælsø Gruppen is to initiate the first two stages of Copenhagen Towers of altogether 59,000 square metres out of a total projected 130,000 square metres, announces Sjælsø Gruppen.
Copenhagen Towers was drawn by the world-famous architects Foster + Partners and Dissing + Weitling.
The result is a construction of two eye-catching towers which will be for hotel and office purposes as well as a number of shared facilities in the complex whereby the users are offered a wide range of services in their every day lives.
In connection with the establishment of the project an agreement has been entered into with InterContinental Hotels Groups about the opening of a 4-star Crowne Plaza hotel with 365 rooms and related conference facilities.
The project is expected to be ready in 2009, and in time for the hotel to be taken into operation in connection with the big climate conference in Copenhagen in the autumn of 2009.
